hi, my mother has asked me to look into getting her some ringneck pheasants.
1) when do they lay eggs?
2) when that time comes, will anyone have some for sale?
3) does anyone have some older ones for sale?

she is always sending me on a wild "pheasant" (inthis case) chase.

I told my husband that I want to hatch and release some here. Someone said it may not be legal to do so. I need to find out if it is. I've meaning to call the DEC. I don't want to keep them penned. I wonder if they could "free range" on my property. I've seen eggs for sale on ebay, but have not heard of anyone local.

cindy if you look into that let me know. i will have her ask someone also. i did see that you can get a grant to make your property better for pheasants. she has 50 acres so maybe she can work something out with them. everyone was here for christams last weekend and they all got talking about it. pheasants are down 90% in ny state.

Hi,

My ring necks started laying early this year. I get one or two a day. I've been waiting for some to hatch in the bator so I know they are fertile, but I am pretty sure they are by how much....attention he's been giving them, he he

Several of the hatcheries have them. A local hunting friend of mine bought some as chicks. Try Stromberg's Gamebirds.

My ringneck lay in April, sell chicks and eggs. Was getting 75 to 100 eggs per day.

There are Federal Land Grants through the local Farm Co-operatives for providing habitat for wildlife, especially game birds, etc. Check also with your state Dept. of Fish and Wildlife to see if there are any prohibitions against raising and releasing pheasants in your mother's area.

Here are some links to help you in looking for Pheasants. Unless otherwise noted all orders are for straight run as hatched. The earlier you get your orders in the better chance you have of getting it filled. Some hatcheries will start shipping day old pheasant chicks from their suppliers in April, others in May.
