Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. X4 on TwoCrows' advice. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in integrating your chicks with your broody hen.

I kept the new babies in the house. I couldnt bear the thought of getting them killed accidentally, knowing I was putting them at risk! So tomorrow I will start to break her broodiness! Now to worry about getting them integrated with the flock later when they are big girls! Thanks for the advice! Im sure I'll have many more questions when these babies are big enough to go out! I cant wait to see what color they will be, and I look forward to Jules ( the broodie) being a normal chicken again!!! ;)

Okay, so today my broody has been oit of the nest for about 2 hours on her own. She came out when I went out to feed them, which she does if the food looks good, but then she has stayed out! Does this mean shes coming out of her broody stage on her own? I took all the eggs away this morning. That would be great! So my questions are... will/can she be coming out of it? And how long till shes normal? She is still growling and skittish, but not getting her feathers all ruffled as much. Lots of shaking off but then seems to let her feathers fall back down to normal. She doesnt really want to be with her sisters still. But isnt going back to her nest. Should I shut the coop door so she cant get on her nest??
