My Broody got what she wanted a few months ago when we stuck some chicks under her. The chicks are around 8 weeks old and mom still takes care of them and crams them under her in the nest box. Is there anyway we can get her to let go of her babies?

Ok, there are 4 babies. She can't realy sit on all of them so some of the hang out beside her in the nest box and the lucky one gets to sit under mom.

Here are some pics I took today

I want mom to give them the boot so she can be a normal chicken again and stop trying to chase our other hen away from the chicks and herself, and I need to spend some time with the chicks as well. I want to handfeed them but can't beacause mom snatches it from me and then feeds it to them.I appreciate her momness, but she needs take take care of herself more.

Awwww. It's a buff orpington. My favorite. You should have been out there at day one interacting with them and not letting her be the boss. You'll have to work with her daily even if it means locking her out of the hen house while you interact with the chicks.

That is a great photo! LOL

It is not like she is mean to me or anything, in fact she is very tolerent of my shananagins
