That silly hen... she doesn't want to let her babies go, does she? Geez, my mom couldn't wait to boot my brother and I out!

That is soooo darned cute!!! There's a family here in town that are going to have a garage sale and they have baby chicks, I'm thinking of getting 3 and putting them under my broody hen and see what she does just for the heck of it. I'm just worried the other chickens will kill the babies.

So you can put fake eggs in a nesting box and when a broody hen sits on them for awhile, switch them out with real hatching eggs and she'll raise them as her own??

That is soooo cute! We had 1 broody that had 1 chick, and they were always together, even when the chick(en) was almost a year old! The mom got taken by a hawk though. : ( I think they would have been together for ever. Another funny thing with that chick is that if she went on the perch at night and her mom was on the ground eating or something, she would go under other chickens wings like the rooster!
