Here are some shots of my mom's SLW. 3.5 weeks old. What do we look for to see what sex it is. They would not be very still.

They look like pullets to me. My SLW roosters had a very red comb by the time they were 3 weeks old. I'm not really very good at guessing though. Some of the roosters really just stand out as roosters -- it's so much easier to tell when you have several of the same breed.

Here is my SLW Roo at 2 weeks...

I could tell when he was 1 1/2 weeks that he was a roo.

Dont know if you can use these pics to compare or not.

See the length of the wing feathers in your photos? That indicates a female. This is probably the only breed that I can say for sure whether male or female. I have tried with other breeds but not to 99% accuracy.

Soooo does that apply to all breeds, that you've noticed?

Or just the SLW's.

I noticed my EE has the longest wings for a chick. The other ones are not so long, now Im worried

Well I know that I have used the feather sexing for 2 different batches of frizzles and it worked. I have 3 RIR chicks and 2 have way more wing growth than the other. So I am calling it 2 pullets and 1 roo.
