When me or one of my sisters asked for something we got the reply "spit in one hand and wish in the other and see which one is fullest"

Or if we weren't getting our way (really young) and started to throw a tantrum "cry a little louder, I can't hear you"

ETA: Another was when she wanted us to behave in public she'd lean real close and whisper the threat "you wanna go to the bathroom" key words for I'll whoop your but just not in public!

My dad also would tell me. " Boy I would tell you your as dumb as a fence post, but it would just be an unfair attack on fence posts" then he would laugh so hard he would need to sit down.

Oh, my dad used to say this all the time. I always felt slightly offended that he didn't think I was as good as him.
