We'll I Have been busy getting our new flocks coop ready girls are supposed to be here on the 9th. Nesting boxes are done and there perches complete, going to paint it pretty this week. Phone rang at 8:30 this sunny Monday morning, it was the feed store my RSL And barred rocks won't be ready till JULY I nearly cried she had 4 breeds that would be ready so I had to pick, I am to excited to wait a whole month! So I picked black sex links(6) and RIR(6) so I'm now reading up on my new breeds and I think it's going to be eggcellent

Those hens will suit you fine. Here's a great idea : why not go ahead and get the RSL and barred rocks in July also. Isn't that a great idea?

Yeah and go ahead and put in orders for August & September delivery. The 2 orders you got in now probably won't be enough!

Seriously, though, those are going to be good hens for you, and if you are just getting started, the hens I have had of that breed have been sturdy and thrifty hens.

I'm also doing the pen shuffle, trying to have space for everyone that was ordered or hatched. Here's a handy-dandy hint....if you're going to reinforce a pen made of cattle panels with chicken wire to keep littles in, it's much easier to before said pen is assembled

Thanks Mrs K I think they'll be good starter breeds. My boys don't care for the look of the black stars but the don't have the distinguished wallet(eye)

for beauty that a grown up has haha. I'd like to get an EE AND A couple Barred rocks oh look I'm building a second coop already!
