Ok I don't want to be "that person" but there are some unscrupulous people in the animal business who do not always have your pets best interest in mind. They will beware the lawsuits and bow to the bank. These are the selfsame folks who will forgo telling you how to avoid a $700 bill in their office by using a less expensive product. I distrust an office who will let a crying kid take home his puppy to die of parvo rather than let them make payments later and save puppy now. I believe the veterinary oath includes the phrase I will use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health, the relief of animal suffering, the conservation of livestock sources the promotion of public health and the advancement of medical technology.

Veterinarians would go broke doing this. There are way too many unscrupulous, or just plain financially strapped people who would pledge on Grandmother's grave that they would make payments, only to fail to do so, especially if said puppy died in spite of the best possible care. Caring for a Parvo puppy can run into thousands of dollars and the prognosis is often bleak. It's not about greed, it's about staying in business so they can care for the next 100 sick or hurt animals they can actually save.

Sorry Big Blue Hen but with the money they charge I don't see them going broke any time soon I paid $1200 when my dog ate mattress foam and got a tummy ache. Then $600 when she got Salmon fluke. And $300 to cremate my dog when she died. My husband makes decent money and excellent credit but none of these places where willing to wait a day or two until Payday.I honestly don't think they are in any financial peril.

Are you considering what it costs to become a veterinarian? Most go into it with crippling debt that will take them years, if not decades, to pay off. They have the overhead of rent or mortgage on their building, wages for their employees, and a scad of expensive equipment. I don't begrudge them what they charge.
