Mountain Lion, Bobcat, Fischer, Mink, Lynx........ Could be any.

Can you get your hands on a hunting camera, the one that you set up and it is motion sensored and then you can see what you are dealing with?

That way you know the best way to trap and kill it before it comes and cleans you out.

I would try to get a hold of a gamecamera. You can find them at Walmart in the hunting and fishing section. You can also find them at Gander Mountain. Our Walmart recently had them on clearance. I would definately get a camera setup, it sounds like you may have several predators and all the happenings just seem to be at once.

If you get a game camera, only mount it over bait. Most wildlife walks by before they warm up.

Your kids probably saw a fisher cat. Whenever I see them, I always think, "wow what a big ugly squirrel, oh wait."

What consumed your Hamburg and killed the muskrat, doesn't necessarily have to be the same thing as what the kids saw.

If you saw it you would get the impression that nothing was carried away in both cases. A fox, for example, would have taken our hen away to eat her, most likely, especially during the day. Same with a coyote. A cat probably wouldn't eat the feet. Minks and weasels will eat their kill there, but in my experience, usually leave a lot more than what was there. I'll google the fisher, I'm curious, now!
