Montana

Karla, I saw that you are looking for a coop for your Mom, there is one on the Bozeman craigslist. I think it was good for up to 6 hens for $250. I don't know how to post links, sorry. There is also a really nice one on the Billings craigslist, but a lot more $$$$. Its $1250. but sure is nice, also would fit about 6 hens.
I came home from work to another 6 chicks in the bator, and I should have a few more over the next several days.
yeah I saw that coop, I did not like it. And Bozeman is to far to go for a coop and I can not bring it back. I'm going to have to have one built for mom in her yard. Or go buy her a small shed, add windows . We shall see .

Yes, they are the Wheaten Ameraucana, you'll have to post photos of your pullet, I'd love to see her. Where did you get her. EE's can look alot like the Ameraucana, most of them are at least half Ameraucana.
I ended up with 76 chicks, I candled tonight to see if anything else was still moving, and here was nothing, so I shut off the bators. No more hatching for me till its much warmer.

this is my girl pullet ... she is young here, she is nicely filled out right now but i do not want to snap pics right now lol,

this is the male pullet, he has become so pretty !!!

this is the coop I am getting for my mom. I asked him to take out the dividers, 8 nesting boxes is really to much lol. I will use one side for storage and the other for egg laying. isn't it cute ! only 450.00 delivered to Butte. and the pen included. a great deal considering in 2 more months everyone in the state will want a coop and the sellers will sell them at outragous prices. I still have to put windows in it, he screened them but no windows, can you believe it. notice the flower boxes, mom will love this. and with 3/5 hens she will love the eggs!!

So what birds did you come out with? besides the ameraucana ? I will snap pictures tomorrow of my birds, my camera was dead today and I got in late. the picture I posted is of her and the male, there filling out nicely now, but still only close to 4 months old. I got them from a gal who sold me a dozen fertilized eggs, these two came from pretty blue eggs.I can still kick my self for not keeping all the chicks, ugh so dumb!! I gave all but two away, thank god one came out to be a hen.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww my rooster crowed, my rooster crowed ! Noooooooooooo what am going to do with a rooster I'm in the city ! Ugh, and he is so beautiful ! A beautiful multi colored EE . I'm going to be scrambling to find him a home and fast!

The coop I bought I decided against, I found a guy I town today willing to make me a coop from here! And 400.00 only. I'm thrilled. It will be 5x6 and I'm having him put nest boxes on the out side so we can collect egs from out side the coop. He is also going to insulate it . I'm so excited!
Oh and he is in town and can fit it to moms yard ( her yard is sloped) so we are having it on legs cut to fit the angle. I will go fetch you the thread where the coop is. Also mom wants her chicks early so she can hand tame them, Bonnie. , I may be getting them from you early lol, say with in the month. She wants five, I want a few also. So we may be driving down to meet you a lot sooner. Depends on the coop going up, I will keep them in the house until they turn 8 weeks then out to the coop with a nice light . The coop he said should be done with in the week.
Bonnie, keep a few black ones for us also ok. Since I'm not sure what will be roosters, and what will be pullets, how many should I buy and will you eat what turn out to be roosters? I'm off to Craig's list to see if I can give my boy away fast.

Karla, your girl is very pretty, she should lay a nice green egg for you, does she have puffy cheeks? I couldn't tell from the photo. All the chicks I hatched except for the pure Wheaten Ameraycana are EE and OE, there are a few that hatched from dark red Marans eggs that look alot like Black Copper Marans chicks, so they could be pure, but no guarantee. I've got new chick photos that I haven't gotten on the computer yet, I'll post them tomorrow.

I will try to taken tires tomorrow, my daughter has confidently lost the charger for the camera. The EE I have has a full face of grey . I'm going to try to get a few pictures of the male to, what a good looking boy he came out to be.
So what is an OE ?
I'm pretty disappointed in my copper maran, she laid a few weeks at the start, then stopped all winter and finally laid 2 weeks ago for three days and now nothing. I hope she lays well this spring and summer . The EE laid the best of all my girls , she has now decided to molt.
I'm fine with 5 wheaten and 3 EE . Even a black bird is fine. I have the room, and mom will also .
They will be very spoiled :)

+1 Montanan here. From Plains but I am in Missoula for college right now. I'm going to get some chickens again this spring or summer.
