Montana

There is information scattered here and there. I read most of it and took the key points from each article. So far it's super easy and from what I hear will be very beneficial for the birds and my pocketbook. The new arrivals love it, and so do I because now I don't have to worry about them drinking water so much ( I still like seeing the new ones drink though). I need to rethink my feeding method. Maybe drain the food a bit more cause the poor chicks are covered in wet food. I don't think I like the idea of wet chicks. I will be trying something different at the next feeding time.

A few recent pics of our BO Roo "King", pullet Americauna "Racer", pullets Black Australorp and Grey Barred Rock. We are proud of them all and they are doing great and funny as can be!

Duginmt, your chicks are getting so big, they are very nice looking. Your pullet Racer is a very pretty Easter Egger, not an Ameraucana, she should give you some nice green eggs. I love my EE's, they are great layers.

Yep, I think you are right about "Racer" Azriel, even though Big R sold them as Americaunas! Says so on my receipt anyway! The other "Americauna" has no beard or cheek puffs but still is a very pretty bird. Love them none the less though. Looking forward to the green or blue eggs.

Karlamaria, how did your doctor's visit go?  Anything broke or torn?

I have to have an MRI, who can afford it and I'm to afraid to go through that machine ever again. She tried to push so many drugs on me, but I want no more crap! A drug for this and that, I already have a thousand lortabs sitting around. I agreed to an X-ray on shoulder and back, but that's not really going to show soft tissue . Thanks for asking, I'm going to wait it out and see how I feel . Great looking chickens ! There getting big!

Larry, I'm going to read up on what your talking about, glad your girls like :)

Sorry if this is the wrong place for posting but I figured I'd go ahead and post in this thread since it'd be more "local" than other threads.

I joined the forums a while back but then became inactive due to school and being busy with life. So I'm reintroducing myself -- I'm Whitney, of Eternal Heritage Homestead. Right now we just have chickens and rabbits (and two wether goats) but we're planning on getting muscovy ducks next week! I'm in Western Montana -- close to the Missoula area. I was wondering if anyone fairly close to Missoula or the surrounding area raises guineas. We're very interested in getting guineas for pest control but aren't sure about ordering from a hatchery. We'd like to buy local if possible. :)

Hi, EternalHeritage: I can't answer your questions about finding Guineas, but just wanted to say welcome back!

welcome back ! Not sure about these birds, there so loud my town will not allow them. But there may be some folks here that has some. Nice to meet you :)

Lost one of my meaty chicks yesterday. Not sure why. I guess it happens. Everybody else is still happy and healthy. They LOVE the fermented food. Since this is my first batch, I have no control group to base my testing on......yet.
