Doug: I clicked on the link & it took me to a site called VigLink, I clicked on the "sign in", it asked for an email address & password -- I just put your info in from above & it says that the information I put in was invalid.

How much did the set-up cost you? I've thought of getting a game cam to install, but it's too pricey. I have someone who is eating eggs 3-4 times a week & want to know who it is that's doing the dirty deed!

Hello MontanaChicks. I have never heard of Viglink, it looks like my link may not work for anyone outside of the range of my wireless server. The unit I use is from Amazon, and I have been very happy with it. Initially installed it to monitor my boys in their playhouse but now am using it in the coop. I paid $50 for it with free shipping but now I see it is at $60. It was a little technical to set up, it took me 4 hours, but I am not an IT person. Here is the link - hopefully this one will work for you!

Dng dug wish I could see the girls, I am also getting a web cam so I can spy my girls even at work. I just want to see who is laying. I found several eggs in the hedge again, looks like I need to lock up the girls for a few days. I'm giving a few girls away tomorrow as OE screams beginning at 6:00 am and she is going to make my neighbors mad. She continues until I let her out, but I do not want her out when I got to work so I'm done trying to shut her up. Also a maran who lays only about 3 das a week. She eats way to much and does not lay all fAll and winter. A gal wants her bad so she is off to her little farm . My screamer is so spoiled that she screams until she is out, then until she gets treats. She is a good broody hen, that's why the gal wants her. I figure I had her three ears and in the time I had her she was broody more then she ever laid eggs lol. She has a few years full of eggs as she is broody mst of the year and with chicks the rest.
Enjoying the rain here, off to open windows if I can for the breeze.

Sorry it seems no one can access my chicken cam, I hoped it would work for remote viewing but obviously I am not setting something up right. Above is a still image from my web cam shot a few minutes ago showing about 10 of my chicks going to bed for the night! The web cam has great night vision out to about 20' or so. It's funny how the chicks seem to end up in about the same position every night, after all of the posturing ends. Also, it's true that they prefer the "high" roost even though it is only about 1" higher than the "low' roost.

Great set-up, Doug. I'm thinking seriously of getting one of those cameras from Amazon. I work with a couple of IT guys that would be willing to install it for me.

Just had a bad storm roll thru here an hour or so ago. It didn't hit us as bad as it did some areas, thankfully..... we had severe downpours for awhile along with some hail. A little lightning & thunder. Hopefully it's over with, as the sun is attempting to come out again.

I just finished making my first batch (& attempt) on the fermented feed. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well, and that the chickens love it up once it's done.

Thought I had a couple of extra 5 gallon buckets to make the feed in, but only found one in the garage so I get on the phone to Albertsons' bakery down the road. The lady I talked to said they had one empty one & I could come get it, but it' costs $2.00, so I figure that's ok, cuz if I bought one from a hardware store it'd be about $6 or so. So I drive down there and talk to the same lady that I talked to on the phone & asked her how I could get more, and she said that the early morning people were usually the ones to empty them out, and they just "throw them away". I asked -- where do they throw them away at? (thinking maybe in the back room or something) and she tells me that they put them into the trash compactor and they get crushed. ............... but if someone is willing to take a few off their hands, they gotta get $2.00 for them.

I know I've been overly anxious to see one, so I'm glad someone finally produced !! maybe the other four won't be too far behind.

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Thanks MontanaChicks. I see the new cameras have a built in speaker and microphone, mine only had the microphone and an external speaker jack, so maybe that is why the price went up $10 since I purchased about 7 months ago. I am looking forward to some green or blue eggs about September!

I get 5 gal and smaller buckets from Albertsons and Costco all the time for my rockhounding addiction. They have always been free. Just go to the Bakery and ask if they have any buckets you can have. They usually have some and will give them to you. Whoever told you the $2, probably just pockets the money!

great picture! What's the camera called? I saw fos cams and was thinking of getting one of those, as I'm anxious to see who lays and who does not. I am getting green eggs from the birds I got from Azreil browns from my others and my Easter egger gives an almost perfect white egg. They used to be very light blue but ave gotten so white it's like she is a white egg layer. I was hoping for blue eggs but guess that's a no go. :/ my brahama gives me a sort of pink egg. Difinatly I get a range of colors. Dug, how old are your birds? Can not wait to see you get your first eggs, what a day that was for us. Sooooo exciting!

last year I purchased 100 pickle buckets from johns pork chop sandwitch shop. At first they were free, then they also started charging 2.00 a piece. I was glad I got 100 free, then paid 2.00 a bucket for a while until I had enough buckets. I use them to plant my tomatoes, and other veggies, I also use them to store my feed, my dog foods and cat foods. I buy the Mylar bags to fit these, pour the feeds in and seal the Mylar and then the buckets. Saves my feeds and they last twice as long. I like to be ahead of the game so I always have at least 200 pounds of chicken feed, and at least 300 pounds of dog and cat feed. Plus I also store my dried grains, cereals etc in buckets for long term storage. One can never have to many buckets. I plan on getting another 50 here soon. I also got. Y first green egg from Azreil 's bird. A tiny green egg. Wish I knew who laid it, I have an all black bird, and a wheaten I believe. ( brown ) or is it a wheaten maran? Not sure what kinds these girls are but there totally sweet.
