Thanks all! Yep, I had a wireless webcam in the coop but had to get a new wireless router and couldn't get it to work after that so retired it!

Going to check for more eggs this morning!

Yep, pretty sure the layer is our most mature-looking Black Australorp, "Whitney" (a tribute to the late, great Whitney Houston), as I was watching the coop this morning and Whitney went into the same nesting box and arranged the golf balls and did a little squat, but no egg yet today!

Noticed late this morning that there were five other pullets playing around in the coop - two RIR's, two EE's, and another BA. Also we have one BO that is showing a very mature-looking comb and wattles. Now I am enjoying waiting for a little blue or green egg as well!

Just got my second egg! And I know it was from a barred rock, because I saw the rock in the nest, left her alone for 10 minutes and then the bird was gone and there was a very warm egg in the nest! This egg is slightly wider, shorter, and lighter brown than the first egg, so I am pretty sure I have two laying now - a BA and a BR! I missed the egg song, if there was one. Oh well, there will hopefully be hundreds of more opportunities to hear the egg song!

Doug, I have a few leghorns that never do the egg song -- I can be standing right there when they lay the egg -- they just get up and run out of the nest as soon as they are done. Most of my leghorns sing the song, but these few don't. It's like music to your ears, tho, when they do.
