Montana

I'm wondering if many of you have seen this awesome news:
Chicken facility permitted to operate in Shields

I'm excited to have custom poultry processing available in Montana! Time for me to put in an order for broilers! I don't mind processing one or two at a time, but I've held off on broilers because I just don't have the time/energy/motivation to process 25 at a time.

Hello, I'm in Butte. Someone was asking if anyone was ordering from Urch poultry. I have an order of 25 chicks from Urch coming this spring(if we ever get spring). Haven't heard from them yet though.

I'm close - I'm in Northern Wyoming....I see Montana out of my kitchen window here in Cowley, quite literally. Billings is my headquarters for such things as medical appointments and the occasional meal at Red Lobster! LOL

I was asking about Urch. What breeds do you have on order and will you want to sell a couple? I've since ordered a mess of chicks from Ideal and Cackle.

I have 3 different breeds coming. Partridge Wyandottes, RC Light Brown Leghorn and RC Black Leghorn so I only have 8 to 9 of each breed which I wouldn't want to sell any right away but I could check to see if I could add to the order for you. Also, I have 15 Barred Rock coming from Jeremy Woeppel (Reese line). I currently have extra roosters in Golden laced Wyandottes, BLR Wyandottes, and Blue Andalusions all from Sandhill Preservation and 1 extra SC Rhode Island Red rooster from Dick Horstman. All are about 9-10 months old. Would be excellent if someone was looking for males for breeding. I can get pictures if interested.

Hi Blooie and welcome. How is your weather down there today? We are getting hammered here with snow and cold.
Thank you! It's snowy, followed by cold, followed by snowy, with occasional snow-nadoes thrown in just to keep it interesting! Supposed to get down to 17 below again tonight. I did hear a rumor that summer this year will be held on August 15th. I'm hoping that's the case! Unusual weather for those of us in the Big Horn Basin - we are considered Wyoming's "Banana Belt" generally. We are very close to the base of they Pryors here in Cowley. Last winter and this year were the first times in our 17 years here that we've resorted to a snow shovel instead of a broom - and of course I ordered chicks!

Yeah, I think it's nasty all over. I should be used to it here in Butte. We're usually right in there with West Yellowstone for cold but have a lot more snow this year with it. This winter is like the old fashioned winters we used to get when I was younger. You sound like you have my luck with ordering chicks with the cold. Good luck to ya with your chicks
