I'm so excited, we were out there working and I saw the older chickens drink from tthe nipples!!! We put up another bucket with 4 nipples in where the younger chickens are and while we were putting up the automatic feeder, I saw the little ones drinking from their new I am feeling so excited, I don't need to worry about any of them running out of food or water... daily!!!
I'm still a little bummed about the run being shortened, but I'll figure something out... it will be all roofed so they will have it year round...
I just can't wait so they can get out of the hen house.... we dug around and got them more worms today... they know now when I come in and make a spot, they wait for me to drop the worms.... they're so funny!!

I have another question... does anybody know about guinea hens? Like if you have 2 of them with your Australorps, will they do okay? My Australorps are so gentle and they really like being with us and the dog... I would guess they lay a smaller right? My concern is if they would pick on my Australorps...

Had Guineas. Ate them. They were incessantly loud and very easily spooked.

I have to agree with RoyalT. Guineas are extremely loud. She has them on the ranch across the street. I'd have friends over and all of a sudden the noise would start. My friends would think the geese were making all that racket. Nope, it was guineas. Geese are quiet compared to the guineas. However, if you want a watch bird, guineas are for you. They'll let you know whenever they see something odd.

Here's a couple of pictures that I took while we were taking a break in the shade... these girls were out with us most of the day....
