WOW, I had no idea. What an odd time for fires like these.

I fought a 100+ acre fire around the end of January some years back. Neighbor accidently set his CRP on fire.

Listened to a fire chief I know get interviewed on the local TV and the reports he got from guys on the line is they had 90+ mph winds on the lines last night.
It is an odd time but possible.
Just last week I saw an idiot in front of me throw out a lit cigarette onto the highway. If I see that again, especially now, I will call them in and report them.

Everybody is on edge now.

Hi all, would anyone be interested in doing a hatching egg exchange?
Right now all my eggs would be mixes, some should be EE's, I have had a Splash Wheaten Ameraucana, a Black Ameraucana, and a beautiful EE as well as 2 lav. and a Black Orp roos in with my flock. I just set up my Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana breeding pen today, so in about 2 weeks they should be pure. I will also be setting up my Orp pen soon, they will be Black and Lav. roos over Black, Lav. and 1 Blue hens.
I would be open to most any LF breed, but would like some Marans, Black Copper, Blue, Splash, Blue Copper, or even mixed colors.
I just hatched out 10 out of 10 of my eggs, they will be fun to watch grow up and feather out. A few are pure Orp, Lav and Blue, 1 looks like a Welsummer, 1 looks BLRW, the others ?? 1 looks kind of pink, and another is a sort of butterscotch color. I'm going to be setting about 18-20 of my blue eggs on Monday. Hoping for some pretty EE's.

Anyone here do chicken processing? If I'm going to hatch birds I'm surly going to get roosters, it's not possible for me to process but willing to pay someone to do them for me. Close to butte, or at least with in 60 miles. Thanks lease pm me ok

Hi Karlamaria,
Sure, any time, I'll be keeping the Ameraucana's in their pen at least through the summer, and as soon as the Orp roos get out of the main flock everything hatched out of there would be EE's. I'm also thinking of putting one or two of my Welsummers or Wheaten Marans in with the Ameraucana's to get some olive eggers.
I wish I could find someone to process also, I can do it, just don't like to. I'm planning on processing some on Wed if its not to cold. I need to get the extra roos out of the pen I want to put the Orps in.

Nothing burned near us. Just listened to a fire get put out up north of us. Good thing they did. Got some 20+ gusts going up here.

Karla do you have a Hutterite colony near you? Some of them may be willing to process your birds for a fee.

Karla,
I'm between Billings and Roundup. My Ameracuana's are Wheaten/Blue Wheaten, the only Ameracuana I have in black is the roo in with the laying flock. I'm going to be setting a bunch of eggs Fri. I was going to just set 24 of my blue eggs, but I'm going to wait a few more days and go with 36+. for a mix of EE's , Ameracuana's, and Orps.
