One of my month old poult's is not looking like he feels very well.

He is hunched up and his feathers are ruffled. ( i noticed this 3 days ago and have been trying to figure it out)

He is still lively.

He comes over to say hi and has plenty of weight on him. I just cant get past the ruffled feathers and him being hunched up.

I heard that turkeys are sensitive to coxidiostat's.

I keep my turkeys with my chicks

I know im not suppost to but the chicks teach them what to do like eat and drink and scratch. I feed them chick food and it is medicated for coxidiosis.

I took the turkey off chick food and let him have scratch grains for a few days but he didn't seem to change any. He acts fine but does not look fine.

I have always raised my turkeys like this before.

What do you think.

Do any of you feed your turkeys chick food?

Sorry to hear about your chick. Do you have any Apple Cider Vinegar/water mixture that you can give him? He can also have some yogurt to try to remove the crud that is inside of him. Did you take him off of the scratch grains? I never feed chick feed. I always feed Gamebird Starter at 30% protein. You will have to hand feed him if he is not eating. Or else he will die.

At the moment all i have is chick feed or scratch grain. If he needs extra protein i think i could get him some.

Just wondering but what do you think is wrong with him? Normally i think of yogurt as something to help with digestion so do you think he has an upset stomach?

What does the vinegar do? does it help dissolve the food?

Like i was saying in my previous thread he runs around fine and eats with vigor so eating what i give him is no prob...yet.

I don't think this is coxidiosis because i have had it before and it spreads fast. Next time i go to the store i will have to try different feed.

I will try your suggestions

Thanks :)
