We got 12 chicks a month ago and lost three in the first few days, but ever since then, all seem to be very healthy. Today was the first day we took them out to get some sun and noticed three of the chicks missing feathers on their backs. Over the last nine years we have had at least 30 chicks and currently have 13 hens between 1 to 9 years old. We have never noticed our girls missing feathers like the three chicks we have now. I have posted pictures for two of the chicks. There are no specks of blood and we have not seen any picking or pecking behavior in the chicks. Can someone let us know what it can be?

Can't zoom in close enough to tell anything.

From what I can see, there's pin feathers coming in. Maybe some loss from some picking.
Now that it's time for them to start going out, having more space, being able to dust bath, etc. I would just keep watch on them and see if they feather on in.
