I had a total of 50 +/- bbs orpington eggs in my bator. Some are Mosby and Bonnie's fertile eggs. Some are from Korfus Kluckers. Some are from speckledhen.

Mosby and Bonnie's eggs are staggered in groups of 2, 3 or 4.

I'll have a few eggs hatching off and on through the next 21 days.

The eggs from Chris went in Thursday morning. The eggs from Cyn went in Friday morning.

Last night, Day 6 (sort of lol), I candled all the eggs in one bator.

Every single egg from Chris and Cyn is growing veins.

Good Luck,

21 days of on and off hatching? Will you be sane at the end? I can't imagine going through the "on edge" feelings of hatching for 21 days!

I've got BBS hatching from Jim and corancher starting last night and over the next couple of days. With any luck I'll be back to where I was number wise before my stupid move with the gate. I'm getting some from Korfus Kluckers in the fall. Sure seems like most people have good luck with her eggs. Good luck with yours MissP.

I've also got Blue Rocks hatching from Jim today.

I have (in the past 3 days) put in 24 Brabanter eggs (Cream and Golden) and 18 Serama eggs in my second bator which are due to hatch the 6,7,and 8th of July.

Oppps! Sorry, wrong post...duh!

Kitty, I collected Bonnie's eggs in little groups. Instead of the temptation of putting 1 egg at a time numbered and dated in the bator i collected her eggs and kept them in the kitchen in a carton. If she skipped a day I them put whatever I had in the bator and waited for her to lay again. She laid 12 eggs over the last couple weeks. since we had that extreme heat she hasn't laid an egg.

The eggs of hers that hatched this week were a dream! Not one problem. No muck, no mess. Clean as a whistle! Hatching those is a breeze.

As far as what I have going now I will probably be hair pulling before the end! Shipped eggs can be a real nerve racking hatch!

They are also the icing on my cake.

I have been super lucky in my hatches so far in terms of pullets.

I have these pullets growing out now -

From Tuffoldhen's stock
3 blues - Bonnie makes 4
1 black
1 splash

From Bamachicken's stock
2 black's

From KorfusKluckers' stock
4 blue's

From Jody's stock
4 buffs

Any pullets from the current egg sets will be topping!

I am putting together 4 pens of varying orps from a mix of lines.

I have been determined and very fortunate so far.

I am very thankful for them all.

Even the gorgeous cockerals.

While I was thrilled with the fertility of my shipped eggs I was also holding my breath. Could I possibly have dumb luck and get a near perfect hatch?

No. I can't.

I have 6 Bonnie eggs in various stages.

Some of you may not know but I had an order for speckled sussex eggs. They were shipped on the 10th and it took the PO 8 - 9 days to get them here.

I held out no hope but candled them and had 1 with veins and 1 bloodring out of 15 eggs. I left the in the bator because I don't though out anything until day 14 or later.

Tonight I see veins and some movement in 8 eggs. Can you believe it? Some I am very iffy on. 5 look far too jiggly. I marked them. I am hoping they make it but I expect they will stop before day 18. They will be due to hatch on 7/10 - one week after Cyn and Chris' eggs.

One more week for orps. 2 more weeks for SS's.

With all those blood rings, it had to be a shipping issue. Still if three hatch out of nine I sent, then that's not as bad as it could be. I believe that they will often start then quit after whatever they go through along the P.O. route. I have 13 of Chris's that look good from my batch, but several others that are a tiny bit porous and splotchy and appear clear; I'll withhold judgement till I recandle in a few days. So far only one of mine has an actual blood ring.
