Wow- it looks like you are doing it up right!

Is that the top of your well I see in the picture? I don't mean to be negative, but before you get any further you might reconsider the location. I think there may be issues with it being so close to the well.

Looks nice.

One observation.

Are those 4x4 timbers on the ground pressure treated ground contact? It doesn't look like it. Before you get you walls up you may want to go get 8 of these.

Even though those timbers aren't sitting on dirt, they are on rocks, the fact that they have contact with the ground will speed up rotting, even if they are pressure treated. Spending $60-70 now, and playing with the floor/foundation today will literally add 10-20 years to the life of that structure.

Keep the pics coming! Nice to see you have an air nailer. That will speed up the job for sure.

Can you elaborate on that a bit? We didn't think it would be a problem, but if there is something we didn't think of, it would be good to know. Thanks.

Yes, they are pressure treated. We decided to go with just the 4x4s on the gravel since the deck we built is pressure treated 4x4s and it's been solid as a rock for 23+ years. We may end up regretting it, but if the thing lasts 15-20 years, that should be good. By that time, I'll be ready for a rocking chair! LOL And yes, the nail gun was a wonderful investment!

I will say thay don't make pressure treated wood like they used to..... We still have a wood deck from 1986 that was never waterproofed, etc,.. after we built it, that is still good. I've seen stuff, built in the last 5 years out of treated wood, rot away already.

I had a friend who purchased an old farm house and his well water was contaminated by something related to the chickens that were kept near the well. I cannot remember exactly what it was. It is important to note that your well is of modern design and is most likely safer than the old one I am talking about. It is also important to note that I spent 15 min. doing a search on the topic and could not find anything so maybe I am raising an issue that is of no concern.
