I sure have learned a lot from reading the archives here at BYC. Thanks for sharing all your experience and wisdom!

I have 4 hens: 1 Barred Rock (10 months old) and 3 Light Brahmas (8 months old). The Barred Rock was injured as a 2 month old, layed briefly during autumn, and started again with the Light Brahmas last month. For the past month, I've been getting 3 or 4 eggs a day.

Yesterday I got SIX, and today I got FIVE. How is that possible!?

Wow! It sounds like your hens love you! Occasionally a hen will lay two eggs in a day but I've never heard of it happening that often!

My 2 hens started laying at 16 and 17 weeks. When they were about 20-24 weeks, I was getting 3 or 4 eggs a day for a good 6 or 7 weeks. They must have been in their egg-laying prime. It then went to 2 eggs a day, one each.
