Sooo, I just got my first quail egg…from the male jail. Sighhh. So I am again trying to get the right quail with the right pens! They are all producing good amounts of foam FINALLY!! So I vent sexed everyone in the male jail and one of the two Grau Fees is a hen…with a huge prolapsed vent :-( So I brought her in, rinsed it, and gently pushed it back in and am letting her chill a bit by herself. It was a huge egg and I’m sure me picking her up and stressing her made things worse.
My big question now…is do I return her to the male jail where she seemed to be doing just fine…or do I put her in the hen den with Silvie? She seems to be holding her own in with the males…calm enough to lay an egg and not show any signs of feather loss. And I finally got them all to stop picking on each other! Sighhhh these quail are soooo much drama!!
