Our youngest flock ( hatched by two broodys ) one on 14 th of may/ 4 on 30th of june had been laying 4 eggs a day. Then we got 5 eggs a day for 6 days on tuesday I collected 5 eggs just after noon, when I checked on the girls just befor dark there were 2 more eggs. On wednsday I was unable to collect eggs untill 5 PM 7 eggs. Unless our two BR/RIR roos started laying the girls are working over time. I know the book says 1 egg every 24+ hrs. Anyone ever collect more eggs than chickens?

I've heard of it happening before, but as a once-in-a-while thing. I've never been so lucky. Congratualtions!

What Southernbelle said.

I've gotten 5 eggs from 4 hens twice in about 14 months.

You're not crazy. It happened to me when I had chickens that were just starting to lay. They got all excited I guess.

I did recently. One of my EE's layed two normal, but almost jumbo size eggs in one day. I think the first one got a bit stuck from the day before though. She was on the nest most of the afternoon, but no egg by bed time or when I went out the next morning. She was back on the nest late the second morning and there were two eggs (her off-green ones) the next time I went out. She was pretty off and draggy looking in the a.m. but much perkier after she laid.
