HI All,
Introduction time here!!! I'm Vicky, Roy is my much better half.
We just got two cows this spring, a black angus and a hereford short horn cross, new experience for both of us.
The black angus' mom rejected him because she had a prolapsed uterus and it took forever for him to be born. After myself, Roy and his brother we named the little guy. Rick wanted to name is Duh because he's not the brightest bulb because he spent too long in the birth canal. I said anytime I said Duh I always said well Duh so that became his name and Roy added Mass So he is "Well Duh Mass."
We got the hereford at the end of April, she was already named
Her name is Minnie Pearl and she's a cutie!!!
We recently bought a small farm, well it will be after we're done with it. we got the horses out of the pasture and put the cows out there, we have a chicken coop with 19 white cornish cross in there right now. THey will be ready to butcher early to mid July. Then we have 15 sexlinks, 6 barred rocks, and 6 buffs in a spare room under lamps, they are a week old today, and cute so far, but I know that won't last.
Plus we have 2 cats that for the first time in their lives have been able to go outside (They are both 9)!! and one only has one eye due to an infection when he was younger and he likes outside more than the other one does.
We have the garden mostly in. We have buttercup squash, hubbard squash, red warty pumpkins, straight 8 cukes, lots and lots of corn, carrots, onions, and a TON of tomatoes, that is Roy's favorite part of the garden is the tomatoes. Next year we'll be rearranging the garden and part of it right now will be pig pen again.
I work for a small airline in our little town and Roy drives garbage truck, so we both have busy demanding jobs.
So hi all, I'm glad I found here, because I know I'll have questions on the chickens, Roy not so much he's raised them before.
