Mort, my Bantam EE hen went broody. I stuck 5 eggs under her, 3 developed, 1 Sebright and 2 silkies. I checked this morning and the Sebright was hatched and I heard peeping in stereo from the Silkies. She is in a deep nest box, so I need to go out and move her, also need to clean her pen and put in new shavings.

UPDATE:
All 3 of her eggs hatched, I picked up chicks yesterday that a friend hatched for me and stuck 2 under her, she is raising 5.
1 Sebright, 2 Silkies, a LF Blue Orp and LF Partridge Cochin! Just checked and she is doing a great job.

One of the silkies is pipped, I got her cage cleaned, new shavings down and her, eggs and chick moved out of the nest box.

I just picked up some chicks a friend hatched for me, I stuck 2 under Mort and both Silkies are pipped now! I am sure Mort can handle 5 chicks just fine.

Yay!

This should be cute in a couple of weeks, the 2 I added are Large Fowl, they will be as big as Mort soon

That's how it was with with my daughters Silkie last year when I sat her on some of my Orpington eggs. The chicks were as big as she was by the time they were 4 wks. old!

So far so good, Mort is doing well, I can't wait for the Silkies to hatch!
