Mosquitos around waterer

I had mosquitos around my chicken waterer today. With my horse, I put a bit of oil in the water. Can I do this for the chickens? They are in a fenced acre with my horse. Out during the day and in a stall at night. They get scratch, lay mash, anything I eat except chocolate, and are really happy and pleasant to be with.

Yes. Consider using vegetable oil.
