Most beautiful lake for a family vacation?

Well, we have Gantt Lake which is nice but I am a BEACHY woman! I love to be at the beach. This is a pic I took a month ago while down there with my DH. I just don't think a lake can compare...but that is JMO

BUT

What about Lake Powell in Utah. It has a longer coastline than the western U.S. It is a different sort of lake, but the desert there is insanely beautiful.

Sandy beaches that you can go out for half a mile!

In the research I've done, I saw quite a bit about Torch Lake. Will look at that again. Haven't heard of Lure Lake - sounds like it's popular! Have been to Mammoth many times, but not to June Lake. Grandkids are on East coast so somewhere in between is probably our best bet.

It's nice to get this input - there doesn't seem to be any online resource for ranking or comparing lakes for vacation settings, so this is helpful!

I grew up on Lake Erie - what was the name of that restaurant in the middle of the lake? My friend's family docked their boat in Vermillion and my family was from Huron. I lived in Willowick on the west side and the lake was my backyard for 16 years.

I loved growing up in Ohio.

Colorado has nice lakes too!

I'm actually going to Torch Lake tomorrow. I'll try to remember to post some pics when I return.

Boyd, Caseville is great. I camped over there a lot years ago. Now that I'm on the "West side," I tend to spend time in Holland and at P.J. Hoffmaster State Park.
