So...I'm just getting back into chickens after several decades raising ducks and geese...There are SO MANY cool breeds...But I think I've settled on Orpington and Ameraucana...I'm going for lemon and lavender Orpingtons and was wondering which color type of Ameraucana produces the most colorful POULLETS???

Thanks in advance...

You should check out the Ameraucana Breeders Club home page. www.ameraucana.org They have pictures of all the accepted varieties which are black, blue, blue wheaten, wheaten, brown red, buff, silver and white. They also have the breed standard,

Well...That's useful information, but it doesn't mention the blues, greens, or any other colors I'm seeing on line right now...I'm seeing eggs advertised from sellers who have multicolored hens and I'm wondering if they are for real...

It sounds like you may have an Easter Egger instead of a true Ameraucana. EEs are mixes and can come in all sorts of colors and patterns.

Hmm...That's possible...Should they be cheaper or more expensive than Easter Eggers???
