Most Economical Chickens.

I've got several breeds all sorted by pens.. I keep a pair of Bielefelders, the biggest food hogs I have, A pair of Buff Orpingtons, do they even eat? EE's, a fair amount, and various others that fall in the same range. So what I have learned is everything I read about Bielefelders as far as food consumption is correct. THEY ARE PIGS!

I've toyed with the idea of adding Bielefelders, but I think I might reconsider.

The bigger the bird, the more they'll eat. Should have seen my naked neck males. Made them bad flockmaster because they always wanted to eat their fill when I have the group food or anything edible

I have a flock of New Jersey Giants and they are huge eaters. I do recognize they are very large birds but the volume they eat is massive.
There are 32 birds and they can demolish a 50lb bag of food in just over a day if I allow it.

My Bielefelders are not the largest by any means... just love grub!

They are still young.. 19 weeks or there abouts.

Mediterranean breed eat way less. More economical. I say any lean breed of chickens like the Polish as well.
Bantam breeds are excellent too!
