This is my BBR Pheonix roo, he is a smart boy, doesn't like being held, but has never been human aggressive or aggressive to his hens or babies, but watch out if you mess with his girls, he will spur you. Our drake had to learn the hard way. He is always on guard, always a gentleman. Will not eat if you throw out a treat, always gives it to the girls and even the babies. I haven't named him really, I just call him daddy, nothing else will ever stick, lol Oh and he's about 2 years old, I got him from a neighbor, believe it or not!

Breed: Blue Silkie
Personality: Hilarious!!! After he was born he was the runt so he has been trying to find himself since then. He has two hens, breeds are an 1 EE and one barred rock. Needless to say he is smaller than both. He was raised and held a lot by our family after he was born and still now. He pretends like he does not like to be held, but he LOVES it.

After he realized he was the smallest and male he could not find himself.

He tried being a bully, brash, and being bossy. He even tried being broody.

After he perfected the most beautiful crow he blossomed. He suddenly knew what he was A HANDSOME BEAUTY!
He loves our family and will always try to get a smile out of you. He loves his girls and shows them all the time. He loves when visitors come buy and comment on his beautiful "fur". He will put on a show for anyone who is around by scratching crowing preening what ever will catch your eye.
Not only is he the most handsome looking rooster he has the best heart!

I am the OP, so I am just sharing an image today. My honey took me on a farm tour for Valentines day (how nice is that!?) Anyway.. We saw so many pretty mixed breed roosters. This was one of them. I believe his father was full Phoenix from what I remember. Mother was mixed.



He is not dubbed. Last year his comb was frostbitten. Pretty common around here. Especially when they have free run of the entire farm. No cages for these guys

Great personality, real friendly. He is a good protector of his girls, He lets the dogs know when they are to close to the fence, and they listen! Oddly though, he doesnt mind if our big old cat hangs out by the fence, they seem to get along pretty good.
