Hello Everybody,

New to the site but have been reading for a while now and primarily new to chickens, meaning I've never had my own but have been around them a decent amount. Wife and I moved to Arizona and have a few acres which allows us to finally have the chickens we've wanted for several years now. Placed an order with privett a week back and the day old chicks will be here next Friday. The winters are mild enough down here that we should not have many problems in starting a flock this time of year. Going to be raising layers and eaters, as chicken meat is delicious and easy to can and store.

Feel free to ask questions.

Make sure that the brooder is completely set up before the chicks arrive. Also, dip their beaks in warm water with some sugar or ACV added to it. Check for pasty butt too.

This is great new. I honestly did not really check into them, just realized they were the closest to me and had chicks available, which is what I wanted.
