Hi all,
I was lucky enough to get some lovely wool blankets from a very nice lady on freecycle. Unfortunately, one of them just reeks of mothballs. I washed it twice, and it helped, but didn't get rid of the smell. Are there any good tricks to getting smells out of wool?

Thanks!

Enough time in fresh air will get the moth ball smell out. I was given a beautiful rug and 2 woven saddle bags, OMG the moth ball smell was strong! It might take more than a couple of days but the smell will evaporate.

Thank you for the replies. I love the blankets, and it is good to know that they won't always reek. I will have to hang them out whenever we get a clear day.

We had a woolen rug that had really strong smell which caused headache to me. I had kept it in the sun shine for 5 days but still it had that smell but was not that strong. Then i kept in the room where sun rays entered and it was there for many days and then the smell vanished.
