I need a little advice I bought 2 cuckoo silkies that had been running with a male. I brought them home to be friends for a rescue Black Rock. The silkies laid and the black Rock sat on the eggs a couple cracked and we ended up with one egg which eventually hatched. I wished for a hen but its a male and Im worried about him breeding with one of the silkies which will be his mum. What do i do?

Unless the hens come from a heavily inbred line, him mating his mother will cause absolutely no problems. Poultry breeding frequently relies upon line and inbreeding to develop families. I had a friend who developed a family of WCB Polish for more than 20 generations using one foundation pair.

You can just not hatch any of the eggs, if you're worried.

Most chicken folks are comfortable inbreeding for a few generations at least. If you have problems with the parents, those problems will be amplified in the offspring. But if the parents are hardy, you'll be fine for a few generations at least.
