Don't know if Meri's brooding them or not...How old are they again?

They're already outside aren't they? And Duchess Is more than welcome here too...

Guess I better dig out some lumber and get a chicken door made for that doghouse. It's probably gonna be heavier than the doghouse all together, it's cedar...Maybe I'll go to Lowes and pick up a 2x2 sheet of plywood instead.

Cindy, who woke up way too early and couldn't go back to sleep

Well, they are kinda outside. They are in a box on the porch, but they still get a light. The little blue splash is about 5-6 weeks old, and the one that looks like that B&W one you liked is about 2-3 weeks old. Not sure, I need to start keeping track of it.
You don't have to take Duchess if you don't want to, I can keep her.

I have just the common ones, no fancy colors (are those the lavendar?) I got them as chicks from an Amish auction.

Shelley has more colors than I have.

If ya bring em here to brood, haul along a cage

, not sure how ones that old will do with newbies. I got room, just might need another cage for aweek or two until I can fit the playpen in here, and all of them can go in it. They can probably go in with the ones you're bringing me, Cindy, aren't they about the same age?

I have the one cage, and if necesary I have other cages (but not as large and roomy). I may have to go straight to the playpen, however, if I have too many actually hatch out. The most chicks I've had at once here was 10 (last spring from the feed store).

I'll be shocked if all 32 of the "good" eggs hatch, but happy. I left the others in there, too - just moved them out to the outside edge, so if they are bad (as I suspect) they won't be in the way.

maybe I ought to hang the "Mother Clucker's Hatchery" sign on the door to my sewing room, instead of out on the coop. That'd make people wonder.....

hhmmmmm I might just do that <snicker>

I just put my lonely little week old baby in the brooder with all the others, and they did just fine. I would not put them together when the younger ones are real young, but at a week they can defend themselves pretty good.

Cool, then I can put them all in the playpen after they are a week old (and with more tinies than biggies, they can gang up on the biggies

The one I put in there was about the same size as the smaller ones that were already in there, but they should be fine. The older ones acted like it was a monster!!

Not those ugly normal looking ones!!

I just gave 5 keets away a few weeks ago! You should wait till spring and take them to that sale in Liberty. They were going for anywhere from $10 to $25 there at the fall sale! You would really clean up!

Yeah, if I can stand them that long.
