Hello, I have two 4 day old ducklings, both were hatched by their mother (a blue swedish). She has hatched and raised a single duckling before so I thought it would be okay. However One is perfectly healthy but the other seems uneasy on its feet and is stepped on and trampled CONSTANTLY by the mother. I know mother ducks do occasionally step on their young but this isn't occasionaly it gets trampled every 10 seconds all day long, it's difficult to watch and is starting to look worse for wear. Should I take her in and care for her myself even though she is already very bonded?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

This is one of the worst tasks to do, but most of the time its a matter of life or death for the duckling. She's not going to be happy with it, but she needs to be nursed inside with you for a days/week until she regains strength and is able to keep up with mama without being squashed constantly. In addition to a mirror, a stuffed animal works well too.
