Hi All,
So the chicks that hatched are now 2 months old almost and doing well, the issue that i faced fairly recently is totally new for me, although i have heard about aggressive moms but she was totally nurturing and caring for the chicks till she started laying eggs again and now after the egg laying stopped(they were infertile and for our consumption), so now is she is ok on her own roaming around but whenever she gets near the chicks or they wander near her she pecks and wounds them badly , now she doesn't say anything to 2 chicks the rest are as if her enemies, for now i have separated her from the rest by putting her under the ring cage but how long should i expect her to cool down?
Because otherwise she has.be a really good mother taking care of the chicks but now after this spell.of.egg laying she is attacking them.

She’s trying to ween them. Her job is done and she wants nothing to do with them. I guess you can separate her until the chicks get used to being on their own. How many chicks did she have? The more chicks the quicker they get used to being on their own. how much space do they have? Can they easily stay away from her? They should be fine with a lot of free space they will stay away from her now that she has turned on them. It’s normal but you don’t want them getting hurt. Pulling feathers is aggressive but normal and will eventually calm down when the chicks get the message.

Separate the chicks and keep them in their own pen then release tjem in a couple weeks. If the rest of the flock is nice to the chicks you can separate the mum instead

but whenever she gets near the chicks or they wander near her she pecks and wounds them badly
How badly exactly? Do you have any pictures of these wounds?
Your hen is acting normally. Once the chicks are of whatever age the mother thinks they are ready to be independant at, her instinct is to drive the chicks away to fend for themselves.
If you have adequate space and a rooster, this should not be a problem. The chicks will hover on the outskirts of the group avoiding the senior hens until they start to lay eggs.
