Mother hen and chick

I have a mother hen with one chick that I want to raise with the rest of the flock. The only thing is I had a mother hen early this year raise her chick with the rest of the flock, and I had to switch the hole flock off of layer and put them to grower. Is it okay if I do that again

Yes, but you should have a side dish of oyster shells or something similar to give the laying hens the extra calcium they need. Layer feed is really bad for chicks.
