mother hen ate newly hatched chick

I am not sure this helped, but once I took the pipped egg from broody, I put them in a relatively small box with light bulb distance adjusted so the temp is around 100F.
And sprayed water on a cotton sheet under eggs. Kept the moisture relatively high.

this has been amazing support and information!

I have one that has survived and one egg left, the broody hen ate another one during the night

I *fired* the broody hen and I have only one egg left, I have put it in a dish over a garden heating pad, and I have put a wet cloth in the dish under the egg. I have the temperature at about 96˚ and humidity is about 70-80%... I hope this works?!

the surviving chick is doing really well, BUT! it is going to be all alone! no other chicks, no momma

will it be ok? should I buy some baby chicks, or can I raise it alone until I can integrate into the flock in a couple of month?
