In the Brooder
So I'm not sure this can be helped but here we go. I have two hens with 7 chicks sectioned off in my coop. Theyre coparenting the chicks together I guess. The area they're in isn't very big and I dont want them to get over crowded feeling or too confined plus they can't get out into the run but when they go out they attack my other hens who are in the other nest boxes when they're trying to lay eggs. And my one poor cochin whos trying to brood two little eggs keeps getting attacked. I know they're just trying to protect their babies but I dont want them to beat the others out of their nests. Will this settle after a few scuffles or should I just leave them contained? Originally it was to keep the chicks safe but now it's to keep the other hens safe. Will it help to put up curtains? Or is it just inevitable?
