So in July my lovely ISA brown Crookbeak went broody, i gave her eggs, 25 days later, nothing.
I bought 4, 4 day old chicks, she loved them, has cared for them since introduction diligently and protected them from EVERYTHING. Been a better mom than my bantam cochins.
Problem is, now theyre 3.5 weeks old, mostly feathered and shes started to wean them off. She will allow them to sleep under her at night but she wont protect them anymore, resulting in the loss of one chick that disappeared into thin air. Should i feel comfortable letting her care for chicks again if she decides to go broody again? She was the best mother, but weaned them way too early.
