Mother refuses to wean 15-month-old daughter, Gov't takes baby UPDATE*

There are definitely cultural differences. I worked as a postpartum nurse and saw these differences first hand. Latino countries seem to breast feed almost exclusively....many of the Asian mothers I cared for would only give a bottle. Attitudes have shifted over time in America as well....for a long time formula was popular now we're much more of the opinion "breast is best" and of course have to capitalize on this most intimate of experiences... hence the boppies, the $300 breast pumps etc........Me, I hope I'll be nursing my babe while setting the table, feeding the chickens, weeding the garden, whatever....

Sorry, now back to our regularly scheduled topic.....i couldn't resist

I'm not too fond of anyone's any kind of bodily fluids flowing around me...but so long as I can move at least a few feet away from whatever you happen to be trickling, more power to the person. XD But, not leaning over my lap on the plane please. Be it for nursing...diaper changing on the darn table they provide to eat food on...or making out. Get thee back behind the yellow line!

I haven't heard anything about the group being discussed here, but the articles definitely seem to be lacking in solid information all around to me. I'll be looking into it more though.

"get thee back behind the yellow line"

I live in Panama (moved here 10 yrs ago) and here also it's a natural thing, no one thinks anything of it, just as you said, she is feeding the baby. Funny how in the US it's considered a bit un-natural and should be hidden.

Good grief--I did it for both my girls-have the pancakes to prove it!
