Anyone else ever seen those moths eating chicken poo at night time? Didn't really look to see which kind. Just walk in with a bright flashlight and you'll see a tiny sparkle. That is their two little biddy eyes. It is also possible to spot spiders this way very easily so watch out.

Bugs will go after anything. As long as it's not mites or biting flies, they shouldn't bother your chickens. On the contrary, my chickens love catching tasty moths as a snack.

I didn't realize there were so many of them. They must be gone by the time the chickens get off the roost because there were quite a few the next night too. I've never really noticed them before.

I bet they are after salts they transfer to eggs. Their larvae likely consuming plants that have toxins which can neutralized by the salts. The larvae have serious need when first starting to feed. Some butterflies use a similar approach.
