I bought too much feed for the summer so I've got a bag of feed that was sitting around for a while with moths in it. My husband says, "no problem, the chickens will love it"!! I'm no so sure....should it be thrown out??

You can feed it. You can kill the moths in it by freezing it. Baking it will inactivate some of the vitamins, so you only want to heat treat as a last resort. Those things will drive you cray!

Yea, I think the heat brings out the moths. I would smell the feed and make sure it smells okay. I have that problem with finch food kept cool. I've tried freezing it and it didn't work. It was seeds tho.

My chicks devour moths...love em. Not sure how beneficial though they fight over em.
