Just in case anyone else is having a rat problem, and if you haven't, you probably will. This stuff worked like a dream and I got it on sale at TSC..really cheap, like $2.99 right now for a 1 pound bag and it's killed two 1 lb rats so far! There's no risk of secondary poisoning to chickens or other animals, so it's also safe AND it's for warfarin-resistant rats, too.

It's safe for chickens? That's cool, but I hope I won't have to get some anytime soon

I've had no problems with the chickens, dogs or cats. The first of the dead rats I found in the run this morning and the chickens had not pecked at it at all, though they were looking at it inquisitively! I checked it out online and it said no secondary poisoning, meaning it's not harmful if another animal eats a dead rat. I did put it in areas the chickens couldn't get to directly, so you still have to be careful.
