~**Motorcycle Thread**~ For the Biker in us ....

Weaklin. Jeff Weaklin.
Well, I guess you have me beat. No chance I knew you. I wasn't even born yet! Ha ha.
So, have you gotten out on the bike yet this year? We got out a few weeks ago. A good rain washed most of the anti-skid away. Will probably get to the Harley shop this week to mark mileage for the yearly HOG thing. I am not crazy about riding before the crap is cleaned off the road, but around here, most places are never cleaned up. You either drive out to the corners with a broom yourself, or you are very very careful!

My scooter is a 96 EG classic and I won't take it out again until we get a couple of good rains to wash away the road salt. So for now, she sits in the garage under a layer of chicken dust.

I'll take a chance here that someone is still checking in - I'm a Texas gal allso -southeast - on the Louisiana border and the Gulf - yep right where dear ole hurrican Ike came through - lost our Triumph but saved the Harley. Hubby and I have riden for 30 yrs off and on. Still going on a road king now, I do love that big ole thing, I just crawl up on the rear end , sit back and enjoy. I gave my sportster to my # 1 grandson for graduating college, and was happy to do so. We rode dirt bikes for yrs. in the piney woods on dirt trails, now we have gone to 4 wheelers after all we are in our 60's and their easier for us. We belong to a hunting club - we dont hunt but as soon as the season is over, we take over, all the crowd is gone, we pretty much have 500 acres to ourselves. Feb, & Mar are still cool in the woods good for a big fire and 4 wheeling to unwind on weekends. But by April & May it's warm enough for the big bike and some nice couple day trips. I only ride early am and night locally during the summer , it's just to dang hot during the day A breakfast run or a dinner run keeps me happy. As I write this I'm saying WOW guess we do ride a good bit. Well it is good clean fun, has been for our family and friends, I figure we have another 5 yrs. left in use. Who knows if we go to a trike we may just keep on riding Hopefully someone tunes in and gets a kick out of this. Remember you can never ride to much , one way or anoher , try them all we have .

Sounds great, sorry to hear about the loss of the bike to a storm. We have a small zuki VL800 that is enough for us. Just hooked up a connector so I can plug in a solar battery charger for it. Biggest issue with dead batteries is that they don't like going dead. Not much for recovery in a bike battery.
We only have 5 acres, but have a good start on chickens.
You get a longer year for riding for pleasure where your at but pay the price with harsh storms. We have milder winters, but less really nice riding day year round here in the PNW.
Enjoy and thanks for posting

Last year I broke down and got a faring for my bike....... wow what a difference! We had it painted to match the bike. I just need some bling on the front of it! Looking forward to riding season this year!

We took the Ultra down to Kentucky last summer when it was god awful hot... 102....we about died! Ended up riding home all night so we'd be cooler. We stopped a lot to get water to drink AND pour on top of ourselves. It was fun, but I don't want to do it again in that kind of heat!

Anyone around Ohio doing the Ohio HOG Rally in June? I was planning on it, but DH couldn't get off work. Now he can, and I am not as excited about doing it.
I guess I am asking if anyone thinks it looks like fun?

I Lived in KY for 7 years so know what your talking about. Just no fun in that heat and the winters are just nasty.

western Washington is so much better.
