Mottled black comb

Good morning! My approximately 3 yr old rooster has a mottled, splotchy black comb. Otherwise he seems fine. It actually looked a little better earlier in the week but now is worse again. Is this something I need to be concerned about? His toes are also slightly pink where they attach to the foot

Do you have another rooster? Looks like he's been in a tussle.
Gather him up and rinse off the blood, you can use saline if you wish.
If he's got dried blood in his beak, give it a wipe out with a soft cloth or qtips.
Vaseline or triple antibiotic ointment on the comb, wattles and facial tissue, should help the skin heal up and he'll feel a little better.

Where is he kept? Photos of housing/run, etc. how many hens?
Foot might be a bit scuffed, hard to see them. You can rinse them off. Dry well, then apply a thin layer of vaseline to give added protection. Keep an eye on them. The red streaks down the legs are due to hormones.

There are no abrasions on his feet and the black on his comb actually appears to be part of the tissue, but I thought the same thing when I first noticed It. I don’t know that I can actually catch him since our run is still being built so they just wander around and roost under my neighbor’s house. i have seen two other roosters that are much younger than him But they do not get close enough for me to see if they have any problems.
I don’t know what the space is like under the house, but maybe he is causing damage there?

Yeah, you'll have to catch him and take a closer look then.

I agree the comb and face look bloodied possibly from fighting or running into wire fencing trying to get away or to something.

He was definitely beat up. Looking worse every day. Now I just have to catch him. Unfortunately I am afraid by tomorrow he will be weak enough and as long as he doesn’t go hide from me I should be able to catch him.

Maybe you could try something he hasn't had before. Canned cat food? Or make a mash with the regular food.
