I have two 9 week old brahmas. I am leaning towards cockerels on both but holding out hope for one to be a hen. The mottled with black back I am guessing roo, The comb color of the second mottled is lighter but still dark enough that I am undecided if hen or roo.

I think I am conflicted about the possible mottled hen because in the picture above its comb is the same color as the brahma head in the same shot. I believe that one to be a rooster due to its color pattern as a dark brahma. The white shoulders and uneven pattern would make this a rooster correct?

Brahmas are HARD to sex when you have non-hatchery lines. My gut feeling is your bird with more white is a pullet and I wouldn’t even rule out the other one being a pullet yet but likely a cockerel. It’s hard to judge comb color by pictures because it’s often more saturated. I’m comparing their development to my Black Brahmas and here are some pictures from the 8-10 week marks. I would focus on if the comb becomes ”built up.” This was the most obvious indication for me. Your Dark Brahma is a cockerel due to color pattern

Thanks so much for the visuals. I guess I do have hope they are not all roosters. I thought my ameraucanas were tough to sex but these seem harder at this age. The dark brahma I would have sworn was going to be a hen based on comb and temperament but feather pattern made it much easier than the mottled.

Your buff laced pullet is beautiful. May have to add that color to my wishlist.
