Mottled Duck

We have a mottled duck nested in our flower bed. She keeps opening and closing her beak quickly. What does this mean?

Is it hot where you live? I am not familiar with Mottled ducks so don't know their behavior,

It is hot where I live... central Florida... I wondered if I should put water out there some how????

She might just be trying to intimidate you to back away from her nest if you are going near it, she should be fine. If you wanted you could put a bowl of water out but don't put it too close to her as it could also attract other animals. I'd just leave her be.
