Good day chicken peeps. I will be adding a few chicks to my tiny backyard flock in July and am currently considering a Mottled Java. In reading up on them it looks like they may go broody frequently. Has anyone had actual experience with these fine looking ladies? I currently have an Americauna and a lavender Orpington. I want great egg layers and I would really like to have different colored eggs so I know who is laying. I'm also considering a Speckled Susses and a Black Australorp. Maybe a Black Copper Maran but I've heard they can be aggressive. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all!!

I don't believe java lay too well. Generally hens that go broody aren't good egg producers. In my experiences sussex aren't great layers either. Australorp seems to depend on breeding. They do lay longer in their lives. I have a blue copper marans that isn't aggressive at all. All my marans are friendly. The eggs sometimes have extra pigment inside on the darker layers.

So many breeds, so many choices. :)
