Moulting and no eggs

They don’t need supplemental lightning. But chances are they will lay the first eggs around februari / march. If you want eggs asap then you can give 1 to 2 hours supplemental lightning in the morning with a timer. But you need a really large coop if you do.

Given their age, should I give them supplemental lighting this fall/winter so they will begin to lay, or should I leave it off for them to grow strong to start laying in the spring? There seems to be mixed opinions on this, so I would appreciate your thoughts!
You could try it.
I've used lights for all 7 years I've had birds, trying different duration's and controls, and have had hit or miss successes and some troubles.
Now I turn the lights up only after the older birds have had their molts, along with a break in laying, usually around the middle of December I turn them up to ~14 hours. Last fall winter, my late May hatched pullets didn't lay until well into Jan.
Here's a pretty good article on supplemental lighting.
